Foami roof tiles

Image
This is a small technique i came up with in order to replace the traditional method of molded mud which result too delayed n' a little messy for my taste. For this we will need: a pen, red foami (because is for the roof) scissors, pliers, two metallic pipes (one that fit into the other), ruler, a scalpel, cigarrete ligther and a brush or any long wooden stick (thinner than the smallest pipe). We cut foami stripes (the size depends on the scale of our model) mine's are 1 cm wide for 1.5 long.  Insert the foami stripe between the pipes carefully. Using the pliers (to avoid burning down our fingers) we use a little bit of heat out of the lighter (5-8 seconds back an forth should be enough) to bend the foami. Right away i introduce the brush and push it down a little to ensure the constant curvature of the material. After the stripe cool down, we cut the segments to finalize the roof tiles.

First model in a while If i can recall well, this wasn't my first model, i did a few of them back in the days, i had 12 or something like that, all those ones were made out of styrofoam that i found on my house, i never painted even one, i stick togheter the walls with pins and i dismantled the whole thing some weeks after i built it. I don't remember that much of that stage in my life, but i do recall having a lot of fun doing it. Life get so complicated then time is no longer available in the amounts it used to be in the past, so we abandon our hobbies for more "productive" tasks. In the past years i have been thinking a lot on retake a hobbie who teach me to be organized, creative and above all to be patient. Trying to fix some broken things at home i start to buy some tools without even know what i'm gonna end doing. A few months into the pandemic i need something to use the time in a more wise manner,  something useful, with slow pace. My mom give me the answ...
